I got inspired to do this after a somewhat sour experience at my place of employment and saw it as an opportunity to gather some other Baristas to talk or vent in a safe, healthy way.
First and foremost, we are to remain anonymous here. We don't have to share which store, which state, or even which country. We won't use names and we will refer to fellow partners as just that. They are fellow partners. We aren't here to snitch on anyone or blast anyone's business on the internet. If you're ranting about a situation or complimenting a situation just say, "the partners at my store" or something along those lines.
If you want to share a location cover yourself and just say which state or which country. I don't care if you want to say, "I work at a store in the midwest" or "I used to work on the East coast." Just be considerate and don't embarrass anyone.
If you have a question about policies, standards, or anything don't hesitate to ask. Guaranteed you will get some kind of answer or help.
I'm not going to say I hate Starbucks, but I am not going to say I love it, either. I work there and that's all there is to it. We all have good days and bad days. The point of this is to discuss those good days and bad days. Baristas definitely are part of a unique community whether you work for Starbucks or any other coffee shop. We are all Baristas and we are all welcome to discuss and give feedback. In my employment I have heard some hilarious stories and also some rotten stories. I have experienced good and bad customers and heard about them from other Baristas.
Got any good stories? Share them!
Got any bad stories? Out with it!
Did you get annoyed when the woman who clearly ordered a grande got mad when she didn't receive a venti cup? Just let it out. It's alright.
How about the guy who tipped you $5 just because you helped him decide which drink was best for him? Keep it coming.
Don't assume just because the word "problems" is in the title that this is a completely negative site. We want it all. We want the good, the bad, the ugly, the awesome, the confusion, the answers, the ideas, and the experience.
Also note this is just starting up and the overall design of this blog, and the other components, is not finished just yet. Be patient with us.
Welcome to Barista Problems.
